Just me trying to create a realistic graphite (pencil) shader with V-Ray (should also be a 1:1 conversion to Mental Ray) and I think the results are interesting enough to warrant their own short journal post.
Here's a quick preview of how it looks thus far as both still images and animation.

UPDATE (27/08/2017): Several people have been asking about how the graphite effect is made, and while I started writing a short tutorial some time ago, I never found the time to complete it and add it to the navigation menu.
